Noticeboard

As we explained in this post, Eddie Sykes is offering a time of informal Zoom worship most Sundays. The service will last about 40 minutes, after which there will be an opportunity for online fellowship and catching up. Update: these services are now at 9:45am.

Note that this service is being delivered on the Zoom platform, for which you will need access details. These change from time to time, and are different from 16 August! If you haven’t already received these direct, please email Eddie at ku.gro.tsidohtemhtysornull@retsinim.

As we journey into August, things are beginning to change as we emerge carefully from lockdown. In the life of the church we are seeking to understand how and when we might be able to return to having worship services in our Church buildings.

In the interim, Eddie Sykes is offering a time of informal Zoom worship, starting on Sunday 9 August at 10:30am.  Following the service (about 30 minutes) there will be an opportunity for online fellowship and catching up.

At this link is an order of worship for worship in the home, created by “Roots for Churches Ltd”. While isn’t the order Eddie will follow on Sunday, it will complement it, and he hopes you find it helpful.

As this will be Eddie’s first venture into leading worship of this kind, he thanks you in advance for your forbearance! If it proves to be something that people desire and want to continue, then we shall look at having this form of worship as a regular part of our worship life.

Note that this service is being delivered on the Zoom platform, for which you will need access details. If you haven’t already received these direct, please email Eddie at ku.gro.tsidohtemhtysornull@retsinim.

As we said in this post, Julia Reid will be leaving the Circuit this summer to begin her new appointment in the North Yorkshire Dales Circuit.

Sadly, because of coronavirus restrictions, we have not been able to give her the kind of farewell we would have wished in order to show our appreciation for her time at Rosyth. We are delighted that she was able to be with us, and will be praying for her as she travels south of the border.

However, Stirling Methodist Church, Julia’s home church, are inviting us to join with them in an on-line Zoom service where we can say farewell to her. The service begins at 10:30am on Sunday 26 July. Details have been circulated but, should you not have received these, please email Eddie at ku.gro.tsidohtemhtysornull@retsinim for an access code.

As you’ll read in the letter from Eddie Sykes at this link, at this time of year there are many staff changes within the Circuit, two of which affect people with particular links to Rosyth. We wish Helen Jenkins and her family well as she becomes a ‘Minister without Appointment’ in the Strathclyde Circuit for the next two years, and our thoughts and prayers are with Julia Reid, who has been doing her student placement with us, and begins an appointment as a Probationer Presbyter in the North Yorkshire Dales Circuit.

We’re just finishing our series of Bible study discussions led by Eddie Sykes on the Book of Ruth (the notes are still available via this link), and we warmly invite you to join us on Thursdays during July, even if you have not done so before. Previous Bible knowledge is not a requirement, just a desire to learn and enjoy the on-line fellowship.

The Zoom meeting starts at 10:30am, includes a time of sharing at the beginning, and finishes at about 11:40am. The meeting details are the same as in June. If you don’t have these, or are new to the study group, please email Eddie at ku.gro.tsidohtemhtysornull@retsinim for an access code.

For this series Eddie has picked, in no particular order, a variety of stories about different people that we read in the book of Acts. As before, Eddie will be producing notes on the topic ahead of each session, and these will be linked to this post as they are published – watch this space!

  • 9 July – The Conversion of Saul (Acts 9:1–19) (notes at this link)
  • 16 July – Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1–11) (notes at this link)
  • 23 July – Philip the Evangelist (Acts 8:4–40; 21:8–14) (notes at this link)
