Sunday@Six was set up in June 2009 in response to a joint meeting of both churches where it had been decided that we needed a new way to extend the reach of our witness to the community. It was seen as a chance:

  • to enjoy different forms of worship including traditional Evensong
  • to invite visitors both to join us and to lead services
  • to look outward to the wider church and bigger issues.

In the December 2015 issue of Contact, Sue Masson reported: “Sunday@Six appears to have been a success and, for those who like statistics, over the last six-and-a-half years we have enjoyed: 10 Evensongs, 8 visiting speakers, 7 Bible Sundays, 7 Christmas carol services, 6 visiting musicians, 6 Taizé services, 5 BBQs, 3 Advent Carol services, 2 St Cecilia days, 2 Café Church and one each of West Gallery, Agape meal, service of healing, Lent meditation, film, Remembrance, social evening, love feast and ordination. The attendance for these special services is mixed: we have numbered as many as 68 and as few as 7.”

Some information is given below on recent happenings during our 4th Sunday evening slot, and more will appear as time permits!

160424aOn 24 April 2016 we celebrated the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare with an eclectic mixture of poetry and music reflecting on the contribution of the “Swan of Avon” to our literature and culture, devised by Val Leslie, with contributions from members of the St Margaret’s choir, and a sketch performed by members of Holy Trinity Youth Fellowship.

The order of service can be downloaded at this link, and you can listen to the whole event on the player below. Be aware, however, that this recording was made through the PA system microphones, which couldn’t pick up properly the many items that were performed in the centre of our “Wooden O”, but we have done our best to make everything audible. And you can hear over 40 people enjoying themselves!
