A very special weekend!

From Friday through to Sunday evening the church looked beautiful with arrangements on the theme “All things bright and beautiful”, there had been Craft Fayre on the Saturday, and the weekend was rounded off with a full church for a Sunday@Six “Songs of Praise”. Needless to say, the proceedings were fueled throughout by plentiful coffee and cake.

Val and Lorraine had been working their socks off to prepare a weekend of celebration, when we brought folk from both our fellowships together, opened our doors to the wider Rosyth community for the first time since before the pandemic, and generated interest in and raised over £600 for our Net Zero project, the next stage of which is to replace our gas-guzzling boiler with carbon-neutral heating.

A big thank you to the army of folk who helped them behind the scenes, and especially to our guest organist Chris Johnson and the members of Dunfermline Abbey Choir who helped us make a joyful noise to the Lord.

Not quite back to normal this coming week, because Thursday is Ascension Day, which we are celebrating with Sung Eucharist at 7.00pm, to which everyone is welcome.

On Sunday 17 May at 11.00am, our service of Morning Worship for the 7th Sunday after Easter will be led by the Rev’d Daniel George. The Lectionary readings are: Acts 1:6–14; Psalm 68:1–10, 32–35; 1 Peter 4:12–14, 5:6–11; John 17:1–11.

Welcome to Rosyth Methodist Church. We are part of the Methodist Church in Great Britain, a Church with some 300,000 members across England, Scotland and Wales.

The Methodist Church is a Protestant denomination which originated in the evangelical revival of the eighteenth century. Our main focus is on the universal nature of God’s love, offered to all of humanity. Our response is to seek to live lives of holiness as part of the people of God. Methodism emphasises the need for a personal faith, and the involvement of all people in the life and work of the Church.

Women and men have equal places in our church organisation and in our ordained ministry. Everyone is invited to discover and offer their gifts in the service of God and of the world. We have always believed that faith is not to be confined to church, but should seek to enrich every aspect of human life.

Our congregation at Rosyth is in partnership with St Margaret’s Scottish Episcopal Church. We share the one building and some of the various activities. This is a place for everyone and we would like people of all ages to feel part of our Sunday worship.
